Jiren Ride – Commitment to Fairness & Inclusion

I. Overview & Scope

Jiren Ride, headquartered in Jimma City, Ethiopia, is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and discrimination-free environment. This policy applies to all employees, drivers, contractors, and business partners associated with Jiren Ride, including but not limited to:

  • Recruitment, hiring, and termination
  • Compensation, promotions, and training
  • Workplace conditions and benefits
  • Service provision to passengers

Any violation of this policy will result in disciplinary action, including termination or loss of platform access. Where Ethiopian laws provide additional protections, Jiren Ride will comply with or exceed those standards.


II. Policies

1. Non-Discrimination

Jiren Ride strictly prohibits discrimination based on:

  • Race, ethnicity, or national origin
  • Religion or belief
  • Gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation
  • Age, disability, or health status (including HIV status)
  • Pregnancy, marital status, or family responsibilities
  • Socioeconomic background or geographic location
  • Any other status protected under Ethiopian law

In Transportation Services:

  • Drivers must not refuse service based on a passenger’s identity or destination.
  • Service animals are always permitted.
  • Geographic discrimination (e.g., refusing rides to certain neighborhoods) is banned.

Examples of Prohibited Conduct:

  • Denying a ride due to a passenger’s appearance, disability, or destination.
  • Using derogatory language or harassment.
  • Refusing service to marginalized communities.

2. Harassment-Free Workplace

Jiren Ride maintains a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, including:

  • Verbal, physical, or psychological abuse.
  • Bullying or intimidation based on protected characteristics.
  • Retaliation against whistleblowers.

3. Sexual Harassment

Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for favors, or inappropriate behavior (verbal/nonverbal) will not be tolerated. This includes:

  • Sexual jokes, comments, or imagery.
  • Unwanted physical contact or coercion.
  • Creating a hostile environment for victims.

4. Affirmative Action

Jiren Ride actively promotes opportunities for women, persons with disabilities, and underrepresented groups in employment and leadership.

5. Reporting Violations

To report discrimination or harassment:

All complaints will be confidentially investigated, with corrective action taken promptly.

6. No Retaliation

Employees or drivers who report violations in good faith will not face retaliation. False claims, however, will be treated seriously.

7. Consequences for Violations

Violators may face:

  • Suspension or termination.
  • Legal action under Ethiopian labor laws.
  • Permanent removal from the Jiren Ride platform (for drivers).

8. Remedies

Victims may receive:

  • Reinstatement, back pay, or compensation.
  • Policy adjustments to prevent recurrence.

III. Policy Leadership

CEO Nebil Kedir endorses this policy, effective September 10, 2025. Jiren Ride will regularly review and update these standards to align with global best practices and Ethiopian law.
